The quilt is out of the washer after a 10 minute soak with no detergent or soap and a short cycle to spin it dry. Note the lint everywhere!
This is nothing compared to what happens in the dryer.
A look back inside the washer. Let the lint dry and you can pick it up with a
paper towel or used dryer sheet. It won't appear on your next load!
Check the lint trap after 5 minutes of drying. You will find this amount of lint.
Continue to check the lint trap after 10 more minutes and then 15 more minutes and you will be able to remove balls of lint about this size each time. I take it outside and shake it after a half hour and continue to dry the quilt until soft and fluffy. I sometimes need to use a lint roller --or even the vacuum--on the quilt before wrapping it up and presenting it to someone. I usually warn them that it will shed lint for a short time with use, but should be lint-free soon. Kathy loved hers--lint and all!
